It is Josephine Yole Signorelli, in art Fumettibrutti – one of the best authors on the Italian comics scene – to create the poster for the first Popular Digital Festival, thanks to her collaboration with Etna Comics. Born in Catania in 1991, she has won the admiration of the public and the acclaim of comic and, more generally, literary critics with texts and drawings that tell her and her generation’s stories in an original and unsettling way.
In the poster created for the Festival, we see a female figure leaning against the Mole Antonelliana, Turin’s symbolic monument, holding a smartphone and a virtual reality visor. Her gaze, however, is turned towards us, almost inquisitive. The green colour of the background tells of fluidity, the sense of blending: yellow and blue are in fact the colours of the city, which together create green.
“We are proud that a sensitive and innovative artist like Yole has presented us with this manifesto,” commented Francesco Di Costanzo, President of the Fondazione Italia Digitale. “Identity, culture, rights, digital within everyone’s reach are the basis of the work of the Foundation and the Festival, because digital is popular when it is truly understood by all and represents progress for all. This is the Festival’s challenge and having such a talented author at our side to tell it is a prerequisite for success’.”.
